Arguably the most important peated Irish whiskey, Connemara was the first in the modern era of renaissance to remind folks that Irish whiskey can be smoky. In fact, it often was, and Connemara Peated Whiskey is inspired by the whiskies that would have been made over the centuries in Ireland in areas like the one that gives the expression its name. Turf (as the Irish often call peat) was what was available to the early whiskey makers, so prior to the 20th century, peated whiskey was commonplace in Ireland. Connemara whiskey is produced at the famous Cooley Distillery and has a distinct but still delicate smokiness, balanced by a smooth texture and sweet taste. This profile has been highly decorated, receiving over 20 medals from major spirits competitions since 2012.

This Whiskey definitely lives up to its name, It has a peated, smoked flavour, more similar taste to that of Mezcal but not oily. Taste exits cleanly from the palate. Would go well with ice or just chilled. Mixes with a tart fruit drink pretty well, coke not so much as the peat comes through.
I love whiskey Irish or Scottish but this is awful tastes almost like tabacco. Has no depth or flavour. Maybe a bad batch but will be given away or poured away.
I wanted to try this Irish Single Malt Whiskey that I had one time before in a whiskey tasting...thought it was good. It doesn’t have as much depth of flavor as the Islay’s from Scotland. But, it’s worth the price and is a nice change up. I enjoyed its smokeyness and it’s smooth finish.
I can't understand someone likes this whiskey - or is there really a quality control problem and this is a bad bottle (my only one)? Very odd: strange peat flavour - not mature enough. But it is different whiskey... I blended Connemara with my Glenfarclas 105 and now there is some kick in the glass.
Not peaty like Islay malts no it’s far more subtle and sweet. A delight when the mood is right
