    Connemara Peated

Arguably the most important peated Irish whiskey, Connemara was the first in the modern era of renaissance to remind folks that Irish whiskey can be smoky. In fact, it often was, and Connemara Peated Whiskey is inspired by the whiskies that would have been made over the centuries in Ireland in areas like the one that gives the expression its name. Turf (as the Irish often call peat) was what was available to the early whiskey makers, so prior to the 20th century, peated whiskey was commonplace in Ireland. Connemara whiskey is produced at the famous Cooley Distillery and has a distinct but still delicate smokiness, balanced by a smooth texture and sweet taste. This profile has been highly decorated, receiving over 20 medals from major spirits competitions since 2012.

    Disappointing

Strong in spirit but lacking depth in flavour. Nice smoke though

    fire water

Third time buying this whisky.great whisky til i bought 2 bottles in Glasgow airport.I CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS IS THE WORST I'VE TASTED.EVEN THE CHEAPEST BOTTLE LIKE KING GEORGE IS BETTER...it just burnt everyone's mouth.pure fire water.might be a bad batch but i doubt it.i still have one bottle left and no one would drink the rest of the bottle in the club.

    the Seaside twist

It's not really a peated whiskey, but it's got somewhat of a smokey twist. It has absolutely nothing to do with the peatiness like whisky's from Islay have,I like the sweet barley undertone and the citrus that keeps coming back.Further more I think this whiskey has a real seaside twist to it.First time for me a taste a Connamara,to bad it only has 40%,46 would have made it so much better.

THE Irish whiskey for peat lovers!

...and not because it's the only offering from Eire. This is the perfect way to peat an Irish whiskey while staying true to the style!

Unreliable quality control--too much of a gamble

This is/was one of my favorite whiskeys....smooth, sweet and very peaty. But the distillery seems to have a terrible quality control problem. A couple years ago, one bottle just didn't taste quite right but it was manageable. But the most recent bottle I bought is absolutely undrinkable. It doesn't taste sweet or peaty or like anything else I can accurately describe. It is just bitter and muddy. It literally tastes like a handful of dirt was blended into the mix. I had to pour it down the drain. At $60/bottle, I won't be gambling on Connemara again. There are more reliable peat smoke products to choose from.
