Single Malt

Bottled in 2006, this Connoisseur's Choice bottling of Clynelish was distilled in 1993 and bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. Matured in refill sherry casks.
The nose is subtle and refined. Notes of almond and hazelnut with gristy sweetness and cereal notes. The palate is crisp with superb clarity. Notes of cereal and sugared barley acquiesce with the dark, supple peat and toffee. The finish is of medium-length with gentle oak tannins and soft smoke as a honeyed fullness develops.

Though there are other (cheaper)Clynelish available from Master of Malt, this is the one to go for. It's colour belies the sublety and clarity of taste. It is less abrupt than the others, and I shall be placing an order for another bottle as soon as I have finished this review.
