Single Malt
Scotland
Douglas Laing specially bottled this single malt from Caol Ila for the Laird of Baltersan as part of an ambitious vision to raise funds and restore the 16th-century Baltersan Castle. Distilled in 2010, the whisky spent 12 years maturing in a single refill hogshead before bottling, without added colour or chill filtration, and just 60 bottles join this first edition, each with a hand-written certificate with bottle number and signature.

Very kindly gifted a bottle of this having tried other Caol Ila. Really easy drink, will deffo be gifting myself a bottle when the originals empty!
How wonderful to eventually find a whiskey so smooth yet in a class of its own. Nice on its own or with a little ice.
This limited edition single cask that Douglas Laing put together for Baltersan Castle is very classy and full of flavour in particular if you look for smoky whiskey. Plus it helps restoring the castle and comes with an handwritten certificate.
