An indie bottling of single grain Scotch whisky from the Cameronbridge Distillery, and a rather well-matured one at that! This expression was distilled back in January 1978 and aged in a single refill barrel for a huge 43 years before being bottled in September 2021. A release of just 200 bottles.
The nose opens with a grand overture of fine wood, Madagascan vanilla pods and subtle liquorice. Detect more of the initial wood on the palate, then follows dark fruit gums, strawberry jam and a touch of peppermint. The finish is long with a peppery spice, Scottish sticky toffee pudding and a warm toffee sauce.

This honey bunch here is a 43 Year Old Single Grain Single Cask Whisky from the depths of Cameronbridge Distillery, bottled at the helm of XOP’s personal and private collection of hand picked barrels. And holy sh**is this something beautiful ? Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, this expression was distilled back in January 1978 and aged in a single refill barrel for its entire life before being bottled in September 2021. A release of just 200 bottles… and I’ve generously enjoyed every drop so far! The glass stopper opens to reveal bold notes of old oak, vanilla, honey and spice with a small portion of green, earthy grains (enough to add nuance but not overpower). I imagine this is a bourbon barrel refill. ? ? ?
