Cameronbridge 40 Year Old 1978 (cask 12767) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
Richly well-matured single grain from the Cameronbridge distillery, bottled for the Xtra Old Particular range by Douglas Laing. The whisky was distilled all the way back in January 1978 and left to mature in a refill barrel until August 2018, when it was bottled at cask strength with an outturn of only 215 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Producer
A big hit of maple syrup immediately on the nose – then comes strawberry milkshake and a cereal sweetness. On the palate detect tinned peaches with sugar sprinkled raspberries, lots of warming spice and damp American oak. The long finish shows red fruits with pineapple chunks and clotted cream.
