Single cask, well-matured, handsomely-presented single grain Scotch whisky here! It's a 45 year old Cambus single grain, distilled back in 1976 and matured in a refill hogshead until 2021. After that lengthy slumber, it was bottled up by Douglas Laing as part of the Xtra Old Particular range (reserved for rather special whiskies, like this one) with an outturn of just 95 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Producer
On the nose detect Grandpa Fred's garden shed, fallen trees, walnuts and blackberry gums. There is a warming hot chocolate on the palate, moving back to blackberry then blackcurrant chews. The finish is medium-long with toasted oak, salted vanilla ice-cream and a lemon zesty quality.
