Cambus 40 Year Old 1976 (cask 11527) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
Long-aged single grain from the sadly closed Cambus distillery, independently bottled by Douglas Laing. This was distilled in September 1976 and matured in refill hogshead #11527 for 40 years (also known as 4 decades, or 10 quadrenniums). It was bottled in November 2016 for the Xtra Old Particular range with an outturn of 108 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Waves and waves of brown sugar and toffee, with a few hints red fruits.
Palate
Poached pears and blackberries, cinnamon and clove. Touches of rum-soaked fruit.
Finish
Toasted brown sugar atop flaky pastry.
