A superbly well-aged grain whisky here from Cambus! This whisky began its life back in September 1988 – since it was distilled, the distillery closed its doors in 1993. This single grain spent three decades in a single refill hogshead, and after its 30th birthday Douglas Laing bottled it up. A limited 336 bottles were released at cask strength for the Xtra Old Particular series.
The nose brings a waft of burnt sugar followed by candied orange, boiled sweets and fresh wood shavings.
On the palate detect sweet biscuits with vanilla essence and creamy fudge.
The finish brings a tingly spiciness plus a warming home-baking quality.
