Caledonian 35 Year Old 1982 (cask 14271) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)

Caldeonian 35yo #14271 Bottling Note

From the lost Caledonian Distillery in Edinburgh, this 1982 vintage Lowland single grain Scotch whisky was housed in a single refill hogshead cask for a whole 35 years before Hunter Laing & Co. bottled it at 46.9% ABV in October 2017 for the superb Sovereign series.

154 bottles of natural colour and without chill-filtration have been released, so if you want a taste of a prime example of a Caledonian single grain while you still can - don't hesitate.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Dried apricots and pecan pie, with notes of buttery brioche, runny honey and pine resin.

Palate: Roasted peanuts and tangy orange peel rise, before creamy fudge, banana bread and vanilla custard reveal. Depth comes with a kick of cumin powder and spicy oak.

Finish: Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, barley sugar and maple spices.
