Caledonian 45 Year Old 1965 -The Clan Denny (Douglas Laing)
A natural cask strength Caledonian grain whisky, this was matured in cask 6294 (a bourbon barrel) for 45 years before bottling under the Clan Denny label.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Vanilla and bourbon barrel notes greet the nose, with hints of butterscotch and pannacotta. Maybe some Greek yoghurt with honey. Barley sweetness.
Palate
Sweet and rounded, and rather oily. Plenty of vanilla/bourbon sweetness, with a touch of Seltzer water. Interesting and quite fresh. Hot buttered toast with Nutella and peaches in cream.
Finish
Lovely ginger and clove spices tingling on the tongue. Sweet and almost effervescent.
