Burnt Oak Blended Whiskey Bottling Note

Fans of meaty smoke and USA barbecue joints are in for a scorcher with this impressive offering from the Burnt Ends range. We described the previous expression, Burnt Bridges Blended Whiskey as dialling the deliciousness of the original Burnt Ends Blended Whiskey "right up to 10". Well, the folks at Burnt Ends have gone full Spinal Tap here, and the dial is officially up to 11 for Burnt Oak Blended Whiskey! Combining a mystery 25-year-old Islay single malt with glorious 24-year-old bourbon, this powerful expression is dripping with layers of chewy peat smoke, charred stone fruits, and roasted coffee. A splendid demonstration of the magic of maturation, just like a good air-dried steak, or a nice slow-smoked rack of ribs. Mmmm...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet robust peat makes a pungent first appearance before the earthy notes give way to vanilla butterscotch and crème brûlée. Fresh apricot leads to creamy fromage frais and gristy rice pudding, with bitter orange in tow.

Palate: Drying wood smoke and charred herbs, chewy peat, and the burnt edges of dark chocolate cake. A touch of tart yellow plum arrives, joined by honey-soaked figs, before prickles of pepper and sweet, milky coffee develop.

Finish: Roasted coffee beans, meaty malt, and nutty oak char bring warming, savoury spice, with lingering earthen bonfire ash.
