Octomore 8 Year Old 2011 (cask 13327) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
An indie Octomore, which is the name for Bruichladdich's heavily peated whisky! This smokey single malt was distilled in May 2011 and aged for eight years in a single refill bourbon hogshead. It was then independently bottled by Douglas Laing in May 2019, with an outturn of 330 bottles at 48.4% ABV for the Old Particular series.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A big hit of maritime peat, with salty mineral seaweed, a hint of liquorice, apple, oak char and bonfire ash.
Palate
Earthy peat now, with smoked cereal, roasted and slightly burnt coffee bean, black pepper and grass.
Finish
Smokey tobacco, dried mango and of course a good helping of lingering peat smoke.
