From Bruichladdich distillery's range of insanely peated single malts, this 63% ABV 07.3 release of Octomore, made with 169 phenolic parts per million. That's an awful lot, more than any normal 'heavily peated' whisky.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Orchard fruit and icing sugar at full strength, ethereal citrus high notes, sweetpea, coffee cake. Water reveals more of the smoke you may have expected.
Thick and slightly drying with grapefruit, sea salt, vanilla, apricot skin, pear and peat tang.
Sweet peat smoke goes on and on.
As we've learned, bonkers PPMs don't necessarily mean blow your head off smoke bombs - floral notes and refinement make their way into Octomore releases.
