Brough Brothers Bourbon Bottling Note

Brough Brothers Bourbon is the brilliant brainchild of Victor, Chris and Bryson Yarbrough in Louisville, Kentucky. A marvellous small batch Bourbon made with a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, resulting in a flavour profile boasting cooked fruit, vibrant spice and toasty oak notes. Great for sipping, but it also shines in some classic cocktail recipes, too - it does rather well in a Whiskey Sour, and makes a great Old Fashioned.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: It’s a fresh, clean and sweet nose. Top notes of vanilla fudge play against ripe Granny Smith Apples and ground nutmeg. A little peppermint, milk chocolate, cherry and just a drop of freshly-squeezed lemon juice are present in the backdrop.

Palate: Similar to the nose the palate is clean and pure and starts out with more sweet notes, this time maple syrup, vanilla and doughnut. More red fruit, some woody tannins, a touch of earthy chilli heat and a hint of black tea add depth.

Finish: Toffee apples and baking spice round things off.

Brough Brothers Bourbon Reviews

Excellent

I personally tried this as a Manhattan on 12/31/2021. The taste was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend. I agree with last reviewer that it is indeed stron- And I did request my second Manhattan of the evening to be not as strong. The taste, again, is excellent. From the mixed reviews, I would say it’s a matter of the bartender and quality of ingredients when creating a mixed drink. Avoid confounders and try it straight as well. I would recommend to the highest

One of my favorites

Fantastic taste, smooth and great finish. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Probably better with ice

Straight seems too strong. Needs a little watering down.

20th May 2021

Not great.

Tastes like moonshine , not in a good way.

In the interests of impartiality

This is neither the best or the worst bourbon I've ever tasted. Certainly at 41% it doesn't pack an almighty punch and is a little watery, however, the oaky vanilla is there and also some orange blossom honey. It's a warming and gentle whiskey and I would buy it again. Why it has generated so much hate is beyond me?

Sweet and spicy

Nice and sweet, with a hint of spice. Impressive if this is as young as 6 months old. I get brown sugar, charred oak, rye spices and honey on the nose. Decent heat, viscous with lots of vanilla and oak on the palate. Not bad for 41% ABV.

Disgusting

Closest dram to a drain pour in my 2020 Advent. This was horrible, no character, watery. Nose was like some of the nasty hand sanitizers out there. Is there a Zero star available?

👎🏻👎🏻

Great backstory..terrible whiskey! Couldn’t give the bottle away after a glass with friends.

Brand is not ready for the bourbon boom.

Shelf turd belongs as low as you can stock it. It’s a mix of rubbing alcohol and mint. Too young to be considered whiskey but may make a good hand sanitizer.

Disappointing

Received as a gift and had high hopes but to be honest I couldn’t make it through the first glass.
