Blair Athol 'The Water Horse' 10 Year Old - Clan Denny Chronicles (Douglas Laing)
Douglas Laing picked out a splendid single cask from Blair Athol here, bottling it up for its Clan Denny Chronicles series. Matured in a hogshead cask for a decade, before a total of 229 bottles were released at a cask strength of 53.8%. The Water Horse is a mythical creature that features in Celtic folklore, lurking in lakes and lochs, and is also often referred to as the kelpie.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A good dose of sherried fruits, nutty malt, and spiced, rich oak.
Palate
Dark, dried fruits, dates, and raisins, with baking spice, a touch of sweet earthy coffee, and bitter chocolate.
Finish
The spiced fruits continue with fruit cake, a hint of juicy zest and toasted nuts.
