Bimber Re-Charred Oak Bottling Note

This right here second single malt whisky released by London's Bimber Distillery! Re-Charred Oak Casks was matured in... Well, in re-charred oak casks. Clearly. The American oak casks were hand-charred by Bimber's own coopers to a level #4 char, which cask enthusiasts (they exist) will know as alligator char. The result is an English single malt with plenty of brown sugar, toasty oak and warm spice notes.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Ginger snaps, milky coffee, a touch of bright green apple freshness.

Palate: Fragrant vanilla, cask char, cloudy lemonade, nutmeg.

Finish: Flamed orange peel and cedar.

Bimber Re-Charred Oak Casks Reviews

An absolute belter!

I got to try this recently, and I was a revelation. What a cracking whisky, sweetness all the way, and totally drinkable at this strength, that extra charring creates a gorgeous spirit, 5* from me.

Caveat emptor

Three quarters of the way down this one and I'm not convinced. Love what the distillery is about - craft, casks an'ath'a' but this is just weirdly different. Not particularly good different, either. I am SURE that Bimber will be good in the future but this one cost me £65 that I definitely could have spent better. Lakes whiskymaker's 2 is loads (proper loads) better as far as young English goes, let alone the latest peaty Norfolkshire offerings!!! Mind the hype, soz.

Phenominal

Can't believe that this is a 3 year old whisky, ABV is dead right. It is phenominal and smooth, can't wait till the next release based on this. Well worth a try.
