It's a special release of Big Peat from Douglas Laing, to celebrate Fèis Ìle 2021! This edition is named to honour the rainfall on the isle of Islay – petrichor is the word used to describe the scent of rain as it falls on dry earth or soil, and of course, water is absolutely essential when it comes to making whisky! Comprised of a blend of whiskies exclusively distilled on Islay and bottled at cask strength, this is jam-packed with peaty, coastal character. 5,190 bottles were released.
Oily peat and chimney smoke, rich chocolatey malt, a waft of lemon zest and seaside harbor.
Peat prevails throughout along with punchy coastal salinity. Sweeter hints of toffee, and chocolate Hobnobs.
More seaside minerality and peaty bonfire, oily leather, and pickled lemons.

Top notch Islay at its best. This had great depth and a sweet peat and smoke flavour.
This really is incredibly good.
