Douglas Laing
Scotland
Douglas Laing has created this limited edition bottling of Big Peat blended malt Scotch whisky to honour the heroes who have helped throughout the Covid pandemic. The indie bottler will also be donating £10,000 in sanitiser to a UK charity, with a QR on this release's packaging through which people can vote for their charity of choice. The whisky itself is made with peaty whiskies from across the isle of Islay, weighing at 40 PPM, and bottled up at 48% ABV.
Smoked meats and earthy peat, with layers of vanilla and cinnamon underneath.
Brown sugar, oatcakes with just a smidgeon of apple chutney, yet more drying smoke.
Hints of lemon shine out behind charred oak and sea salt.
this is a nice enough liquid, but I feel it compliments well with other whiskies if you are entertaining, rather than a standalone - there is a 12 yr version which if you can justify the extra money, go for that instead :)
SO GOOD IN TERMS OF WHAT'S IN THE BOTTLE AND SUCH A GREAT CHARITABLE BIT OF ACTIVITY.
