Behold, it's the first permanent release in Douglas Laing's Big Peat series with an age statement! This 12 year old blended malt, made with whiskies from the Isle of Islay, packs a familiar peaty flavour profile, with some extra depth and complexity joining the party. Oh, and Big Peat still has his lovely yellow jumper. That's wonderful.
Bonfires on beaches, ready salted crisps, brown sugar and a hint of liquorice.
Sea breeze, earthy peat, peanut brittle, oak, flamed orange peel and toasted sesame seeds.
Heavy peat smoke sticks around for minutes on the finish.

£43.95 - this is too "affordable" and the quality lacks... I'd suggest the maturation here isn't in the best of casks hence the low price... I hope Mr Peat improves and the price goes up... smart label.
I have yet to taste a Big Peat I did not like. This is another cracker, subtle and so smooth, all the Islay characteristics are present, this is a dram to finish a stressful day to!
Every year i have the special christmas edition and i like them all. But this one has for me the right balance .
Really rate this Islay beaut
My new favourite.
