    Bell's Original

Bell's Original is a smooth, well-rounded whisky with a hint of smoke. It's perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks.

Bell's whisky is the United Kingdom's most popular blended Scotch whisky, this is the standard release of Bell's Original, with notes of fresh herbs on the nose with cereal sweetness on the palate.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Finish

Short with notes of fruitcake and smoke.

    Tastes like poison

It tastes like a nail polish remover. The flavour is truly offensive. Even when used as a mixer it makes me want to drink something else to mask the flavour and I'm not a lightweight. I'd say that's what you get for the price but I'd rather but a cheap vodka instead.

It's a nice dram with a bit of sweetness and bit of peat too. It won't linger long afterwards but it isn't trying to be fancy.

I've been drinking Whiskey for 30 odd years of all kinds. I have a tiny obsession with the stuff. I'm amused by how pretentious some people can be regarding whiskey (and wine too actually). Bells is in no way harsh unless one doesn't drink neat spirits. It is fine and inoffensive and isn't costly. There is only one way to drink whiskey and that's the way you like to drink it. It seems to be a fashion to say it's rubbish; it isn't.

Nowhere near as bad as people say

Sweet but not too sweet. Bit of peat. Smooth but a slight burn at the end that you would expect with most standard blends. Gives you a nice glow. Actually find it less sickly than some of the better regarded malts. For the price very good for a dram neat or mixed with ice and ginger ale/soda water/ Pepsi. Whatever floats your boat but it’s not as bad as some people would have you believe

    Recommended at the price

I have been drinking Sotch and Irish for 37 years now. I worked on the West Coast for three years in my twenties, where I really got introduced to Whisky properly. For some mad reason, I never tried Bells properly until Lockdown gripped the nation. I started only shopping in the village and tried Bells. Let's get this straight, it is not a 15 year old single malt, and it's not £45 a bottle. To me it's primarily a 3 way blend of Blair Atholl Coal Isla and Grain Whisky. It is smooth, sweet with a back drop of peat. Smooth enough for drinking neat, cheap enough to mix with coke or girders, if that's how you like it. On Burns Night, I will be Drinking Dalwhinnie 15, no question. For an every day day dram, Bells is excellent. I prefer Black Bottle, but that is difficult to get hold of. Bells is ubiquitous, thank the lord.

    Just for mixing

Very rough, not good to drink neat or on the rocks, only usable for mixing, but thats what you get for this price.
