    Bell's Original

Bell's Original is a smooth, well-rounded whisky with a hint of smoke. It's perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks.

Bell's whisky is the United Kingdom's most popular blended Scotch whisky, this is the standard release of Bell's Original, with notes of fresh herbs on the nose with cereal sweetness on the palate.

It's ruined by that Isla smokey taste - it would maybe be good otherwise

Bell's Whiskey is the worst tasting whiskey I've ever tried in my entire life. I got it originally as a present, and while whiskey doesn't last very long with me around to drink it, I've had the same bottle for a year and still not drank it all, simply because it's disgusting. I don't understand where most of the positive reviews come from, considering the taste is like the runoff from a heavily-used ashtray at the dirtiest pub in town. It's not a good whiskey. Every single time that smokey flavour is added to any whiskey or other spirit, it completely ruins it. I'm not sure what it is, but it kills it personally for me. That's just how it is: it's awful and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone if it means sparing their tongues of the horrid, acrid taste it gives off. It reminds me of Ben Bracken Isla, where it tastes like how carbolic soap smells.

Please take this as a warning

I have been a bells drinker for most of my adult life l am 62 now and I am very disappointed with the company putting a union jack on the label as a true Scots man I think that this is a disgrace and it will stop me drinking your product which I have enjoyed for years

Do you like peat and smoke? (I avoided this one for years)

Because this has the peat and smoke of Isla, but it also has toffee flavours of lowland, spicy notes of speyside and whatever flavour I'm getting from it's Highland malt that I can't quite describe. It's young and not smooth, quite rough. So you add a little water (about 1/4 or 1/2 of water to whatever whisky you have) and take away the roughness. My rating is based on price and experience. This isn't a luxury whisky but it's a decent every day blend with an interesting mix of flavours. As the title says I avoided this one for years based on people saying it was horrible stuff. I opted for Teachers, Grouse and W & M as daily whiskys. But I'll definitely have this as another option now.
