I always keep a bottle of this in the house for when I fancy a whisky and ginger ale/coke or soda and plenty of ice. So refreshing. Tasty wee blend on its on, I find it earthy and not overpowering
I've tried bells a few times, including on a blind folded taste test. I can pick out that nasty stuff a mile away. The person that come up with this blend must of had a cold at the time as there is no way real working taste buds would find this acceptable to be called scotch. I would rather drink neat drain cleaner than drink this stuff by choice.
Bells, it is what it is. A very popular pretty cheap blend of malt and grain whiskys. Personally I quite like it. it is surprisingly better than Teachers and has a complexity similar to Grants Family reserve. Other similar low priced blends are Famous Grouse, which I like a lot and Whites & MacKays which is also surprisingly complex. Bells has a different taste to these others, with bigger hints of peat which I really enjoy. As an indication, my favourite malt is Ardbeg, whilst Bells blend is not in the same league, it is a pleasent dram and can happily be drunk neat, which is imo the only way to consume Uisge Beatha.
Over the past few months where I've brought the odd bottle of Bell's I've noticed it's taste has REALLY taken a dive. I've tasted better thing's from under the kitchen sink. Bell's WAS one of the best tasting single blend's on the market, what's happened!! Come on now, revert back to ORIGINAL TASTE, you'll sell more & consumer's will love you for it!! ?
