Balmenach 8 Year Old 2008 (cask 150012) - Benchmark (Murray McDavid)

Another indie bottling from Murray McDavid's ace Benchmark range, this Balmenach 8 Year Old was aged in a first fill bourbon barrel and finished in a first-fill Koval Bourbon cask. Maturation began in 2008, before this single malt Scotch whisky was bottled 8 years later at 46% ABV with natural colour and no chill-filtration.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

There's aromas of thyme honey, mixed peels, plenty of oak and cereal sweetness.

    Palate

With citrus blossom there's cut grass, dry barley, milk chocolate and a hint of roasted coffee bean.

    Finish

On the finish there's slightly tart mango, dried cedar and sugared almonds.
