Auchentoshan
Scotland
Single Malt
A Lowland single malt whisky from the Auchentoshan distillery, no age statement is given and one assumes it is a younger malt though certainly an enjoyable one. 'Classic' was launched in 2008 to replace the old staple 'Select'.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Fairly sweet, toasty Bourbon notes and creamy vanilla intertwined with lush, ripe cooked fruit. Perhaps coconut.
Fruity with typical Auchentoshan refinement. White peach and crème anglaise.
Clean, a floral freshness, a little more zest with white peach and apple.
I have been drinking whiskey most my life and at last i have found a true single malt, smooth nicely flavoured and good on the palette a fine drink by any standard
As good a whiskey at the price I have tasted it is now hard to find. In supermarkets or off listen se
Don't be put put off by some of the comments here. This is a lovely whisky and a real shame it's no longer made. If you can find a bottle and enjoy your vanilla lowland tastes then snap it up. Best sipped neat.
I'm a Highland Park fan. The 18 if I can get it and if not the 12 yr. old . I got a bottle of Aunchentoshan Classic by mistake and it was indeed a mistake. On the bright side I now have a bottle of scotch to give people I don't really want drinking my good stuff.
This is simply terrible whisky and the American Oak is only a little better. There are only a few malts which are genuinely bad and this, along with basic Jura and Speyburn, is one of them. These are cheap but there are plenty of good whisky's often on offer that are vastly superior like Glenlivet, Ardmore, Aberlour etc.
