    Annandale Man O’Words Vintage 2017 (bottled 2023) - Bourbon Cask (cask 1048)

This 2017 vintage Annandale bottling of Man O’Words single malt (its unpeated whisky) was bottled in 2023 after maturation in a single bourbon cask (#1048). Specifically, this cask is a refill bourbon barrel. 'Fresh’ bourbon barrels will have previously held bourbon, and nothing else, and so have significant flavour to impart. But a refill barrel will have held bourbon, then another whisky (usually Scotch). At Annandale, the second-fill comes from an American whiskey called Early Times. This is because the oak character is less dominant and allows the true character of its distillate to shine.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

    Nose

Sweet with cooked apple and ripe pear, lifted by warming spice, gentle malt, and a hint of black tea.

    Palate

Rich cooked fruits layered with syrupy sweetness, balanced by a dry black tea note.

    Finish

Malty with gentle spice, soft and lingering.
