A Japanese blended whisky that has been the subject of some controversy. The bottling for the home market in Japan is made with malt whisky and molasses spirit, which would not be classed as 'whisky' in the EU. This export version, however, is made from malt and grain whiskies.
Buttered hot cross buns, chocolate peanuts, lemongrass and a light hint of spicy rye grain.
Cherry bakewells and walnut loaf. Sweet cereals with a dusting of nutmeg and black pepper.
Medium length. Quite sweet with dried apricot and a touch of oatcake.

Very smooth, warm. Slightly sweet. Good buy.
While my first instinct with this blended whisky was to throw it to the rocks and go for a single malt, upon first taste I was pleasantly surprised. It has a a milder flavor profile from what one would normally look for in a fine whisky, but with the right occasion this is an excellent choice. I would recommend this glass with dinner, or even as a Sunday morning enjoyment. Upon first opening the bottle, which is a metal twist cap, not a cork, my first instinct was of a speyside with a splash of vodka (I hate vodka), but much more mild. I find that letting it sit in the glass for a little while opens up the flavor profile a bit, and allows one to taste the subtle nuances of the bottle. With the first sip I taste a nice matured, but not complex oak, with a mild peaty finish and undertones of vodka. I made the mistake of drinking this beside a nice scotch the other night and I could barely taste the whiskey. Overall it tastes and smells cheaply, and hastily made. I am disappointed by this product. I expected more, especially with the recent craze into the japanese whisky's. with that said, the mild taste would be best accompanied with fish. In that essence this would be a perfect Whisky
The flavor is so unique and smooth. I'm not normally a blend guy but I fell in love with this. Had it at a Japanese pub on a whiskey flight. Was my favorite of the group by far.
Made by the same company, and bottled and labelled similarly. I'm currently sipping the former, and very smooth and nice it is, especially for the money, here in Japan. I only noticed the latter quite recently. It's about 2/3 of the price, and I haven't tried it yet.
Me ha encantado y sorprendido este Whisky japones
