For this dry vermouth, Sacred teamed up with Alessandro Palazzi, head bartender of London's Dukes Bar which is famed for its Martinis – and this vermouth is used in every Dry Martini served at that fab establishment! A bone dry expression, produced with English wine from Gloucestershire's Three Choirs, it should be no surprise that it's absolutely exceptional in a Martini.

Overall

Distinctive and subtle wormwood bitterness, with peppery undertones, dried herbs and hints of berry sweetness.

Know your vermouths!

You need to know that this vermouth is specifically made to be used in small quantities (dashes) in a Direct Martini - it's therefore stronger / more assertive than a "standard" dry vermouth. If you enjoy "Dukes-style" Martinis then there is no substitute for this, but if you aren't familiar with this style then you will need to adjust your vermouth / gin (vodka) ratios accordingly.

Too Dominant and Lacking in Subtle Flavours

I agree with the Big and Bold review. Overpowering as a vermouth. Tasted alone it is a bit like petrol. I see why Allesandro uses only a drop or two in the glass and then throws it out. I appreciate the effort that has gone into producing this, but it is definitely not to my taste and I will not buy it again.

Big and Bold

This vermouth comes with high recommendation from one of the worlds top bars but with a Martini, as will all drinks I guess, but especially a Martini it comes down to personal taste and for me, this didn’t do it. The botanicals/herbs in this vermouth, I found, overpowering. It has a very strong presence in a Martini and I felt became the main player, overpowering the gin. The deep yellow colour is a clue to how big and bold the flavours are. Others will adore it, but it didn’t work for me.
