Martini Rosso

Martini Rosso is an iconic drink that almost needs no introduction. Martini Rosso Italian red vermouth was first created in 1863, with that same recipe having been passed down to each of the brand’s Master Herbalists who are sworn to secrecy. It’s made using over 50 herbs and spices including local wormwood, with the colour owing to natural caramel. It claims to be the world’s first red vermouth, and is an absolute staple for a Negroni.

Reviews for Martini Rosso
Delicious
I tried this neat, straight from the fridge, and it was delicious. The fragrance and the flavour are interestingly complex and very enjoyable. In addition, it makes a fine Manhattan cocktail when combined with Jim Beam Pre-Prohibition Rye Whiskey, also bought from Master of Malt.

Great for mixing a Manhattan coctail.
It may be an iconic major brand, but it's great for my Manhattan cocktail.

basic - in every way
OK. This a basic. The Volkswagen Golf of vermouth. Not more not less. I am into cocktails and this one doesn't have a bad taste in a Negroni or a Manhattan but also doesn't lift the drink to new heights. If you use high quality spirits in your cocktails, you should NOT use this one and just spend a few $ more. There are plenty of options. From the light Dolin Rouge to the dominant Carpano Antica. My favorite is Carpano Classico. Perfect balance. You will taste the difference.

fabulous
Whats not to like here. Martini and lemonade with fruit in the top and lots of ice by the jug full through the summer. Knocks Pims and lemonade into a cocked hat. There isn't a summer drink I would rather have.
