Firefly White Lightning Bottling Note

This is Firefly's White Lightning Moonshine, all the way from Wadmalaw Island in South Carolina, USA. Presented at 100.7 Proof (50.35% ABV, for those of us on this side of the pond), this is a powerful, subtly rustic but tasty tipple.

Firefly Moonshine White Lightning Reviews

For this price avoid

Nose is quite nice. Strange sweetness on tasting, must be the corn. Generally unpleasant to drink straight up. Burn is stronger than anything I’ve drank before and I’m familiar with La Fee absinthe. Bearable mixed with coke. Big fan of bourbons, younger cognac and favoured ‘shine. I can drink Nikka ‘from the bottle’ at approx the same strength but this one isn’t for me. Hopefully the more expensive palmetto stuff I bought won’t be like this. Could understand it if it was cheaper.

Perfect for sipping straight from the jar next to a fire , it has a bite which goes into a corn flavoured chest warming buzz. Will definitely be buying again !

True corn whiskey.

Firefly is true corn whiskey, not like some of those out there that claim to be moonshine but taste of nothing. It is sweet, smooth and my favourite alcoholic drink.

A worthy introduction to shine

My old man is a fan of the infamous TV show, so I thought Father’s Day was a good excuse to delve in to the world of shine.

I never thought he, or I for that matter, would be drinking 100proof straight and find ourselves enjoying it. I’m a big fan of rye mashes, so the heat from this is more than welcome, but the smoothness is unreal. I get a great corn feel and an almost buttery finish.

Well worth a buy and nothing like the jar of turps I was expecting to end up with

Nice stuff indeed, I've tried Georgia Moon, Popcorn Sutton's,O'Donnell's, and Midnight Moon, this is very smooth andcorn-tastic

Golly that's good

Back in 1955
I met a man who's name was Clyde
He took me to find out
What moonshine is all about

Butter and vanilla, smooth and still has a good kick

I've been an aged whiskey guy all my life. Single malt, bourbon, rye, Canadian etc.

So I thought I might try something new to fortify my highball cocktail. Got a jar of Firefly over proof to add in and I have to say it was a nice buttery addition. Since then I tried it straight up and found it to be wonderfuly smooth, excellent in flavor with a just a hint of vanilla. I can do without the burnt oak ageing if whiskey always tasted this good straight up.

Much better than expected

Just bought this moonshine - truthful, I've been watching the Moonshiners TV Show - good light entertainment, fun and typical USA t****

Just for the record, I like bourbons and single malts with a splash - e.g. Highland Park particularly - Bourbons: Four Roses, Bulleit, Knob Creek etc etc

Anyway, as I say, I've only just received this moonshine today - It IS very drinkable - I had thoughts of it being like turpentine - it is not !!!!!

The corn is very noticeable - smooth and very very drinkable straight from the jar - like in the show :)

Never thoughts I'd drink 50 ABV straight !!!!

I also got the apple pie - this is low ABV but very nice also.

I guess, this is the type of review that I would have likedvto read before I purchased

I hope it helps some (said with a southern drawl !!!!)
