Firefly Moonshine comes all the way from Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. This is their Apple Pie flavoured expression, with bursts with notes of baked apple, warm cinnamon bark and even a little bit of flaky pie crust!
Never tried moonshine before and thought I'd take the plunge. And with this stuff I'm glad I did. Wow. The taste is hard to explain. It's almost like crisp and clean with an alcohol kick. Then the flavour of sweet warm cinnamon apple pie. The finish is brilliant and I can assure you this jar wont last long. Can't wait to see what else this brand has to offer with the different flavours they have.. came brilliantly packaged and fast too. Would recommend to anyone. Brilliant buy.
full credit to Jim Irwin for this one ..I love moonshine and the corn mash particularly , but this apple pie takes some beating ; slight cinnamon on the taste with the apples on the taste .....but the finish is superb ..how the hell does he get that pie crust taste ? ...you can taste the pastry ,and I've tated many other apple pie moonshine ...but this is up there at the top !...I've tried to produce that pie crust taste with my own recipe ...but no just can't get it ...well done Jim you set the benchmark on this one !.... joxer cat !
This moonshine is great lovely apple flavour with a almost buttery after taste . Very very moreish
I wrote a review of white lightening by firefly This Apple Pie is very easy to drink, and I like it Not had others to compare - but as a wisk(e)y and Gin drinker - it is fun I can't give it more than an 8 because I don't understand the market properly Maybe it should be a 10 ??? But my opinion overall is that it is a drink you will finish and at £18.10 (May 2016) that can't be bad :)
Since I first purchased a jar of Firely Moonshine Apple Pie, I have tried other Apple Pie variations. In my opinion Firefly have crafted a superb product that is unique! Unlike all other Apple Pie Moonshine, where apple juice is infused with cinnamon and other spices, then combined with a neutral spirit, Firely Apple Pie is made in the same way that Gin is infused with botanicals. Firefly distils a grain neutral spirit made from corn, then steep whole Apple Pies in the spirit before distilling the mixture and carrying all of the essence over with the alcohol. This means you can pick up the aroma of freshly baked pastry, apples and a hint of spice. Other Apple Pies have a strong cinnamon taste and aroma with apple in the background. They are less complex than Firefly Apple Pie which is my favourite and the reason I am now revising my rating from 8 to 10/10! Best served slightly chilled straight up. This will now form my monthly order. I will also be reviewing Firefly Cherry once I have finished my Apple Pie!
