Jaffa Cake Rum Bottling Note

The folks behind the excellent Jaffa Cake Gin have gone ahead and found a new partner for the classic orangey, chocolatey treat - rum! Akin to its gin-based sibling, Jaffa Cake Rum is made with actual, no-foolin' Jaffa cakes, alongside oranges, fresh orange peel and cocoa powder, but this time it's been blended with Caribbean rum! As it turns out, this is also an ideal combination - which shouldn't be too surprising, considering that chocolate plus rum and orange plus rum are both fab flavour combos already. However, when they all come together in Jaffa Cake Rum, it is spectacular! Not only does it do very well in a Daiquiri, it also makes a mean Rum Old Fashioned with only a splash of vermouth needed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Rich hot chocolate wafts arrive first, followed by zesty orange bolstered by the fruit-forward rum notes developing. Subtle ginger heat and vanilla pod earthiness in the background.

Palate: Juicy orange jumps to the fore, though vanilla-rich, subtly grassy rum elements remain prevalent. Cakey sweetness balances dark chocolate, with a tangy hint of tropical fruit giving it some pep.

Finish: Almost buttery, with orange oil and mocha hints lasting long on the finish.

Overall: The flavours that rum and Jaffa cakes share are accentuated incredibly well in Jaffa Cake Rum, and they blend brilliantly together, making for an approachable yet supremely satisfying delight.

Tasty treat

Jaffa Cake Rum definitely hits the spot a light jaffa cake after taste. Some may see a gimmick but it's more like a modern classic.

Bloody utter shit.

Me and a friend have been buying different rums to try recently.

This one seemed perfect, well the description did anyway.

When it came to the unveiling via the nostrils there was no sign of orange anywhere at all. It smelt like turps.

If I was blindfolded I would have thought this was Glens Vodka.
To be honest I think I'd prefer Glens Vodka, on the rocks.

A bloody utter letdown.

This literally tastes like your nans been doing the decorating and accidently dropped her Jaffa cake into a brush jar of turps instead of her brew.

Fucking no stars from me.

Disappointed

This had so much potential! I was so looking forward to trying it and unfortunately was a big let down! It has absolutely zero resemblance of Jaffa cakes or even orange at that! Quite frankly it doesn’t even taste like rum - it’s got a very ethanol like taste to it, more of a vodka like taste. Very, very disappointed. Don’t waste your money.

Jaffa cakes and rum should never be mixed.

TWO GREAT ITEMS SPOILT BY BEING MIXED TOGETHER,

Very yummy

It’s pretty sweet, but then again so are Jaffa Cakes, so it’s hard to knock it for that.

The orangey Jaffa-ness does come through and complements the rum nicely, but it’s a little more subtle than in the gin.

Loved it!

chocolate and orange notes shine through. Superb!

Even better than the gin

Somehow the flavour of Jaffa Cakes coupled with rum just works. Lovely stuff, and I’ve now bought several bottles.

Super-chocolately

The chocolate works really well with the rum and the orange lifts it nively at the end. Very satisfying. Not overly sweet.

Missed the mark

Nice tasting rum, but unfortunately it's never been near a jaffa cake. So tastes nothing like one very disappointing...........

Wouldn’t buy this again, unfortunately it is gimmicky as I didn’t get much orange flavour let alone Jaffa cake, was a shame too excited to try it

Didn’t taste any orange or chocolate and couldn’t drink this neat as it burns, wasn’t as smooth as I was expecting

Jury's out on this one!

Three of us tried this with three differing opinions from 5 to 2 stars. Very strong orangey tangy taste but somehow works. It's an acquired taste and I was in the middle of the three tasters.
I soo much wanted to like it more but I can't. Sorry. I have had worse rum but had better too.
I do like jaffa cakes but this was too much for me. Left it at my mates to finish off because he loved it.
