Spirit of Swaledale Old Gang Spiced Rum
Back in the 19th-century mines were often opened with a drop of rum to toast the “health to all miners and maintainers of mines” and this tale and the local Old Gang Lead Mine inspired the Spirit of Swaledale to create this tasty expression.
It's made in what the brand describes as a "gin-like fashion" by combining ginger, cassia bark, pomegranate seed, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamom, vanilla, allspice, star anise as well as oils from pineapple, orange peel, coconut shavings and carob pods with rum, which is finished with toasted Yorkshire oak shavings.

Nose
Baking spice, creamy vanilla, milk chocolate and touches of tropical fruit.
Palate
Sweet pineapple, marmalade and a little aniseed develop among the rich and warming spices.
Finish
A touch of pepper and coconut shavings appears on the finish.
