A beautifully smooth, sweet Dominican rum from Ron Barceló, Gran Añejo is a perfect mixer and works tremendously well in a variety of dark rum cocktails, or you could just have it with a few ice cubes and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Nose Sweet, chocolate-led nose with notes of fresh herbs, butterscotch, a hint of pepper and almond.

Palate Rounded and medium-bodied with espresso beans, dark chocolate, manuka honey and toasted hazelnut.

Finish Good length with black pepper and cinnamon spices.

Nice aroma. The first neat drink on ice was nice, with a little bite at the end, but it grew on me. Worth pouring and leaving to stand for a while, and then its delicious. Had it neat, with ginger beer and with orange peel - which was a revelation. Gorgeous.

Great drink with coke (diet fir me) and ice. I first drank it in tha Dominican Republic while on holiday 2017. I prefer to use this rum as a long drink if you can get the “Aged” Ron Barcelo drink it neat as a “sipping rum” , maybe with ice depending on your preference. I haven’t been able to buy the Aged rum since returning from holiday. :-(

The good stuff
Absolutely incredible. This is what Time should taste like. I recommend drinking it room temp and neat. You really will be able to appreciate the flavors of this little gem.
