“I’ve drunk quite a few really good/expensive brands of rum and whiskey I tried Red Leg yesterday (no ice or mixer; straight from the bottle) and was blown away with the taste and smell. It smells of intense vanilla (lovely) and whilst you can taste the alcohol, it is not so overpowering that it ruins the taste, which is beautifully sweet and spicy. If from time to time you fancy a drink that’s a little easier on the palate, then this is the ideal bottle to have in your home bar. Definitely recommend; I’ll be buying my own bottle very soon! ”

RedLeg Spiced Rum

RedLeg is a superb spiced rum made with Caribbean spirit which was aged in old oak whilst being infused with Jamaican vanilla and ginger. Just superb and very good on a crisp Winter's evening!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Custard apples and cinnamon. Lovely, inviting ginger notes. Very spicy.

Palate

Good level of sweetness with gingerbread and hints of black pepper. Sweet, creamy vanilla.

Finish

Long, spiced finish. Stem ginger in syrup.

My new favourite

Kraken was always my favourite but Red Leg beats it. Very smooth and great with a shot of cola.

Perfect mixed with ginger beer and ice

Another spiced rum that I've seen in quite a few pubs recently, Red Leg is a funny one for me. It's the only spiced rum that doesn't seem to mix well with coke. Dump a few measures in a pint glass of ginger beer and ice however and you have the perfect drink for a summer afternoon.

Best spiced rum.....?

Of all of this type of spiced rum, Morgan's, Sailor Jerry, The Kraken and suchlike that are found on most supermarket shelves, this is in my opinion easily the best of the bunch.
