La Hechicera is Spanish for "the enchantress"... This rum was made in Colombia and is Solera-aged rum aged for between 12 and 21 years in bourbon barrels. Very good indeed.
Nose: Coffee beans and chocolate. Plantains, peppermint leaves and vanilla cream. Chocolate.
Palate: Plum jam and dark chocolate. A little chilli, black pepper, cinnamon and cassia bark.
Finish: Nutmeg and cocoa. Peppercorns and vanilla.

A really top notch rum - dry, smooth as silk and complex aromas and flavours. If you're after a sweet rum pick a Diplomatico RE or a Zacapa 23. If you're after top quality rum it really doesn't get much better than La H for me... though annoyingly still quite hard to find.

Now I don't think the chaps at Master of Malt would stand for this outrage... an inferior drinks site beating them on price by 56p lolSeriously though I have only 1 word to say with this 1 & that's smooooooooooooooooooth & for a rum that's saying something, this 1's definitely for sipping neat. Watch though, u could stand up after a session to find your legs buckle & realize the reason to be your 1/2 way down the bottle you just opened.A funny oddity I found with this gem, not that you'd murder it with cola or anything, alright I did it once & once only.. Honest! The flavor seems to disappear completely when mixed with said diet cola ruining the whole experience & wasting your money. Not sure why but its probably to do with the cinnamon/cassia/nutmeg/vanilla being similar in both my mixer of choice & the spirit.

Tried this at a Drambusters tasting about a year ago and bought a bottle, which is nearing the bottom. Refill will certainly be considered. Can certainly taste the dark chocolate and coffee beans which are two of my favourite substances on earth.
