The team from Discarded Spirits specialises is using ingredients that would otherwise go to waste to create lip-smacking spirits, like its Banana Peel Rum! It features a base of Caribbean rum which has been matured in whiskey casks, but then it's infused with banana peels for two weeks to impart a whole load of fruity, estery deliciousness. The banana peels come from a flavour house which uses the fruit, but not the peels, so they would normally not have a use. Discarded Spirits has given those peels a use, and the result is marvellous.
Banana bread and treacle toffee, with notes of dried fruit, baking spice and butterscotch.

Rich caramel natural banana nectar!
I've been a lover of rums since Noah was just the local carpenter, when first offered this at a friend's place I was a bit dubious, having tasted banana liqueur in the past which was gross. First taste was of ripe banana, a good demerara flavour and as one other reviewer mentioned a taste of whisky, but its far from overwhelming. I drink this purely as a sipping rum and at most will only put a single ice cube in, nothing more. Its as smooth as a babies backside, the only downside is that the bottles seem to have hole in the bottom as they go way too quickly.
Best rum I’ve ever tasted and I’ve drunk rum for a life time
Pushing Rum to the next level. Depth smoothness and intense flavour. Giving whisky a good run for its money
I was massively excited to try this, and hugely disappointed. Rum is my go to drink, however this just tastes like a whisky to me. Granted it’s matured in whisky casks, but the whisky taste is so dominant.. if you don’t like whisky, avoid avoid avoid. For those that do like whisky, you may like this. It’s not a bad quality product by any means, it was just absolutely not for me.
