Aged in a Solera system for between 14 and 24 years, this delicious Colombian rum was made by the Dictador company. It is brought down to bottling strength with demineralised water slowly - drop by drop - over a period of 28 days.
Hints of oak and morello cherry. Orange blossom honey, dried cranberries and hints of smoke.
Cigar leaves, Demerara sugar, manuka honey, cooked fruit and pepper. Spiced.
Cinnamon and cedar wood.
Nice rum that has some lovely flavours honey, dried fruits that finish with warming spice but they are gone within seconds of the sip. Very smooth zero alcohol burn- possibly due to the system having left overs in and maybe they’ve added sugar. It’s not overly sweet though
I was hoping for something more developed and complex than the 12 but it didn't really hit the mark for me. I suppose it's luck of the draw with solera rums. In my opinion, I've had better rums that cost less than this.
I bought a bottle in 2019, and it has a super strong flavor that was interesting and unique in the 12 yr bottle, but here it is overpowering and occluding. Coffee and cardamom, tending strongly towards carob beans -- that chocolate substitute that health enthusiasts adored in decades past. It is too one-sided and odd, and not worth 50+ nor 20+ years... quite disappointing. Buy the 12 year version if interested.
The aroma is versatile, attractive, in taste pustovato, beverage
After trying the 12 year old, I had to go for this. It did not disappoint! Simply a great rum.
