Caroni alert! This liquid treasure from the long-lost Trinidadian distillery joins our exclusive Master of Malt collection. Distilled in 1997, the rum spent 25 years maturing, including a finish in tiny little sherry octave casks. A release of 150 bottles.

Dense and oily, with leathery old oak, bittersweet molasses, treacle, and vanilla cream. Stewed stone fruits and sweet balsamic notes rest beneath, backed by drying, barky spice and chewy toffee.
Robust notes of oily oak, treacle toffee, sticky dates and caramelised nuts, joined by burnt orange peels, honeycomb, and cacao.
Sticky ginger cake, warming notes of pepper and nutmeg, toasted vanilla, tannic layers of earthy tobacco and leather, and distant dark forest berries.

I think this rum is great. It has the characteristics of long-aged Caroni, but the additional aging in sherry casks gives it a more fruity feel. The additional aging blends well with the existing Caroni rum, making it delicious. It may be a Caroni rum like no other before.I was surprised at this high quality for the price.
