A 10 year old rum from the Don Papa range, inspired by the story of Papa Isio, who played a big part in the late-19th century Philippine revolution. It's produced on an island in the Philippines, which is said to have one of the highest rates of 'Angel's Share' evaporation in the world - making this 10 year old expression (aged in re-charred American oak barrels) all the more impressive.
Plenty of rich, aromatic dark chocolate notes, dotted with wafts of smoke, oak and juicy raisins.
This sickly sweet monstrosity can't even be classed as rum. Well marketed, nice bottle and label, but there is no aged rum in this bottle. Don't waste your money.
I first found this while living in Manila, and have been trying to source it back home in the UK now I've returned. Its beautiful...one of the best rums I've ever tasted.
Lovely initial surgery taste with subtle hints of burnt coffee and chocolate. It's beautiful.
95/100 Extraordinary Limited edition made by Negros sugar cane variety aged 10 years in American oak barrels Medium brown colour Vanilla prune fig orange peel apricot butterscotch concentrated mango candied strawberry caramel toffee sugar cane Off dry Full body Smooth alcohol Pronounced intensity Long finish Very complex Extraordinary level of rum ?, the excellence of Philippines ??, as its little brother Don Papa (7y.o.). Super smooth alcohol great to drink neat or over an ice ball. I read many reviewers saying that the proveniente of this rum is unknown and 7y.o. And 10y.o. Version would be impossible as the company is too young. For my personal research this rum is produced from the largest gin producer in the world, Ginebra San Miguel, which produce also some rum whisky and other stuff. So I believe is possible! Probably not from mt kalon but still from Philippines
A 10 year old rum from a company that hasn't existed 10 years, from a distillery in the foothills on Mount Nalaon, where no distillery exists. Someone's laughing all the way to the bank with this shameful rubbish.
