Well, this is a pretty unique combination right here... Thanks to Belgrove, hazelnut rum is now a thing! The brand is named after William Belgrove, a rum pioneer, and the spirit is a single-origin Demerara rum from Guyana combined with toasted hazelnut flavours. This is sure to make a whole bunch of innovative cocktails, though if you're stuck for ideas, may we suggest a rum Old Fashioned?
Both sweet and dry, hazelnut is of course at the fore, supported by creamy notes of vanilla and chocolate.
Intense hazelnut aroma hits you in the face as soon as your nose hits the glass, taste is typical Demerara rum... very warming, intense smack in the chops. This is followed by a complex woody, slightly bitter upfront flavour profile of pure condensed hazelnuts. This rum lends itself well to a little sweetness and compliments coffee and chocolate based cocktails. It also tastes great straight or with a dash of coke.
What an amazing wee gem of a rum. It will surprise you and delight you. Hazelnut is not as over powering as you think. But in the background. I did smell chocolate as I was drinking it. Totally amazing. Mixed with ginger ale this is my new favourite. 2 bottle already ordered. This is a smooth and delectable to consume. Enjoy. Because I definitely did.
