Rumbullion! Bottling Note

A sure-fire hit from Ableforth's, Rumbullion! is a cockle-warming spiced concoction, based on the kind of rich, full-bodied rums the seafaring fraternity would have enjoyed centuries ago.

At the core of this fabulous winter warmer lies a blend of the very finest high proof Caribbean rum, to which was added creamy Madagascan vanilla and a generous helping of zesty orange peel. A secret recipe was followed, finished with a handful of cassia and cloves and just a hint of cardamom.

Rumbullion! proudly flaunts its maritime inspiration with a label that bears a hand-drawn illustration of a Navy grog tub, emblazoned with the words: “The Queen, God Bless Her”, and just like all of the fine spirits in the Ableforth's arsenal, each bottle is wrapped in crinkled brown paper, wound with twine and sealed with black wax.

Enjoy it neat, or with ice and squeeze of fresh lime.

We reckon Rumbullion is one of our Best Rums under £40!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A fabulously decadent nose of intense, sweet vanilla and flamed orange zest. The cardamom makes itself known by offering up an evocative suggestion of old-fashioned cola, and to this the cloves bring out a deep, dark complexity. Yet more sweetness with cinnamon, which melds beautifully with essential oil notes of Seville orange peel.

Palate: At once a fabulous mix of thick cut bitter orange marmalade and tingling, zinging spices. Hints of Manuka honey and mouth-watering cinnamon form its heart, with molasses, candy floss, toffee apples, crème brûlée and clove-studded oranges.

Finish: A long finish, with tongue-prickling spices, and a stunning degree of freshness as cinnamon, orange and creamy, sweet vanilla notes coat the palate for minutes.

Overall: Rich and profoundly intense, this is a rum to see you through the coldest months.

Rumbullion! Reviews

Gorgeous taste

By far one of my favourite rums
Bought from master of malt from my son as a present for me.

Multi-dimensional

I find a lot of rums a bit harsh and one-dimensional, but this little beauty is much more complex than your standard fare. I doubt it will last until Christmas but it reminds me of a cold winter’s evening all cozy staring into a roaring fire with a good book.

Still drinkable

Not keen on spice rum this has to much vanilla in it which puts me off spice rum

Good rum for mixed drinks

This rum has vanilla, a heavy dose of baking spices and some orange peel which makes for great mixed drinks. It is bit too intense and bit too sweet (for my taste) as a straight up drink. The sweetness imparts a ripe banana flavor to the rum.

Full of flavour

Great tasting rum with a punch of vanilla, it certainly hits the spot. The elongated wax drips give the bottle a good characteristic too.

OK but £35 cash is far better spent

For £35 my cash goes on Flor de Cana 12yr or Appleton 12yr or Doorly's 12yr or the same £35

Amazing taste

Absolutely amazing taste. The only Rum you don’t need to mix with anything

Excellent spiced rum

I really like this. I like to be able to taste the vanilla in my spiced rum and you can with this. It’s like a much better quality version of the likes of red leg or old J. If you’re not a fan of vanilla this isn’t for you as the vanilla is more prominent than the cloves or cinammon. Good abv too. I love it

Overpowering cinnamon

Very disappointed. The cinnamon is too overpowering for me to drink as a sipping rum. Its okay as a sipping rum but I prefer others
