A high-ester Jamaican rum from an undisclosed distillery, bottled up by the folks at 1423! Distilled in 2015 from molasses, it spent a six month finish in Pedro Ximénez cask before it was bottled in Denmark for the Single Barrel Selection in August 2019. The single cask yielded 203 bottles at 55% ABV, with fruity, nutty notes from the finish alongside bright tropical fruit.
Fresh mango, leading into a slightly bitter nutty note, with a sprinkle of brown sugar, dark red fruits, black pepper, liquorice and spicy crystallised ginger.
Jamaican? Yes. Delicious? Yes. High ester? No! Not even medium ester by jamaican standards - worthy park rather than hampden or long pond.
