This particular liqueur from Tempus Fugit Spirits has been named after Frate (Brother) Angelico Fernet, a monk who is thought to have been responsible for the origin of many herbal tonics. It's only fitting then that Fernet del Frate Angelico contains saffron, myrrh, quinquina, gentiane, angelica and mint, all of which would have been used in vintage fernets. The bitter liqueur is produced at the Matter Distillery in Switzerland from an original hand-written recipe from 1930, which originated from a now extinct Italian distillery.
Bitterness is immediately evident, building into fresh menthol notes and sweet undertones, all carried through onto an incredibly long finish.
