St Raphaël Le Quina Ambré Bottling Note

Inspired by traditional recipes, Le Quina Ambré from St Raphaël is made in France from a base of white wine, with cinchona bark and other botanicals added. The neo-vintage packaging all feels very appropriate, and works very well over ice simply with a slice of orange.

St Raphaël Le Quina Ambré Reviews

An ambré with the quina dialled right down

Like the summary says, this is an amber/ambrato vermouth in which the quinine element is very subtle. The base is very pleasant, with an oxidised/raisiney flavour kind of like madiera or marsala, but with less sweetness. I prefer a stronger cinchona punch, however.

If you want a sweet vermouth that is less sweet than usual, this is perfect.
If you want an exemplar ambrato/quinquina, there are better options.
