Made exclusively using 30 Year Old Single Malt Whisky from one of Speyside's most famous distilleries, this liqueur is truly something special. The base whisky used to make this liqueur has lain in waiting for over 30 years in Traditional Warehouses in Speyside, and upon reaching maturity has been carefully ‘seasoned’ with ingredients selected to match the flavour profile of the whisky, including Cinnamon, Orange Peel, and just a touch of zesty Grapefruit.Excellent over ice, but more than good enough to drink neat. For the Perfect Serve Pour a healthy measure of Liqueur into a tumbler full of ice, and serve straight away.
Nose: A sweet, honey-led nose, with hints of black treacle, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. A touch of dark rum, nectarine in syrup and marzipan.
Palate: Thick and full-bodied, offering up a handsome Oloroso sherry core, alongside some really cracking malt notes. Some peaches in cream, strawberry conserve and Golden Syrup.
Finish: Medium to long finish, showing oak, nuttiness and honey.

I recently tried this as part of a worlds best, and I have to say, it was delicious, but for me not earth shattering. It pours nicely, and has a pretty perfect viscosity. Don't get me wrong it's a solid whisky, but it just felt like it missed a bit of personality. I had this during the same week as the Taketsuru 21 years, and honestly it didn't have any of the caramel nuttiness and joy of that, for a similar price banding.

A simply huge liqueur - you can taste every facet of the liquid that's gone into its production. There's stewed prune, a touch of sulphur from the sherry cask (which only contributes to the exquisite complexity), and a massive whack of rancio. Incredible stuff.

I bought this as I am no longer prepared to pay more than double the price for the 40 year- old version! I did not find it a particularly interesting experience as the liqueur lacks depth and character.

Don't expect a quality 30 year old whiskey. This is an absolute disappointment to any whiskey drinker. It is more like drinking syrup than whiskey.
