    Glad to find my fix.

I was introduced to Lochan Ora by some good friends from down under. My household all drink scotch. The head of our household passed and with the memorial coming up I wanted the only "scotch" I liked to drink.

my family sold scotch whisky barrel ownership, so the barrels were held as a 4-12 year investment

I loved the idea that holding barrels of mash until they were at least old enough to blend. Some people held onto the barrels until their children were 16 years old, having bought the barrel's rights when their kids were born or before they were 4. That made the scotch from 8 to 16 years old, premium as single malt or for blends.
As a child or at least 10, it was frowned upon to be tasting scotches. I naturally, somehow found my way to the herbal sides of each brewery. I loved Lochan Ora (this was in the early 1970's when very few single malts had made it to the states & Chivas Regal on ice was shared before during & after a dry aged steak.
I still can't drink scotches- just too much for my nose or stomach
But Lichan Ora is a different story.
While I was in the Navy; I made sure that ALL of my friends who landed in Scotland, picked me up a bottle of Lochan Ora which STILL wasn't easy to find!
Would I teach out to Chivas to revive the type of investment again? Most definitely. Would they agree? Perhaps. I think that the idea bumped into other interests which the government was tracking. I believe that scotch whisky investments are safe and unique. What I'd really like for my birthday on the 19th of December? Is a new bottle of Lochan Ora. As an herbalist with a worldwide customer base; I custom blend teas, tinctures & creams/ soaps. But my favorite herbal brew has to be this sublime blend of old scotch & herbs.

    The New Drambuie

For everybody who like myself who feel that the recipe of Drambuie has slightly changed for the worst since they gave the classic bottles & brand a new look this is the drink for you. A true plesure that you must try if you loved the genuine Drambuie, trust me you will fall in love with this class in a glass, even the bottle reeks of a classy drink.

I received Lochan Ora as a gift a few years ago and now my bar is not properly stocked without this magnificent liqueur. Amazing how few people even know it's there.

An absolute delight. Fresh, light and soothing liqueur made to relax and unwind the most demanding of personalities. I have 4 unopened perfectly kept bottles from the late 70's to enjoy during my retirement.

Top Shelf (Really. I have two shelves !)

My first is Irish Mist, but honestly, Lochan Ora is the best. I guard my remaining two-and-a-half bottles from all comers. Has to be a real occasion to bring the half-bottle out of seclusion. Now, if you will excuse me, I just thought of an occasion....

    Better than Drambauie.

I have had a bottle since 1988 and there's been about on shot glass left before I bid it farewell. I can't find it in any of the liquor stores I visit around the nation. I always want to have a bottle of Lochan Ora in my liquor cabinet for special occasions. As scotch based liqueur's go, Lochan Ora is the best!

    Excellent Choice

Drambuie may be the classic; however, Locan Ora is absolutely superb! I once invited two friends over for Rusty Nails made with Lochan Ora as THE alternative to Drambuie, and it was so good that one friend drifted off in the armchair where he was ensconced. (I shut off the lights and went to bed after the other friend left. Jeff's three AM awakening did not necessarily detract from his appreciation of Lochan Ora, it simply made the occasion more memorable, I would say....)
