When I was a bartender working in one of the greek holiday islands there were two young girls at my bar one of which was so drunk she fell of the bar stool and was feeling quite sick. I pushed her to knock back a shot of fernet branca without letting it touch the sides as it tasted so bad. I then helped her friend carry her back to there holiday apartment and left. I swear on my life only one hour later they walked back in to the bar sober and her friend told me after half an hour she had woke up and decided to go for a kebab before returning to the bar. since then it was my best recomendation for curing a hangover or even alcohol bing poisoning.
I have used Fernet - Branca for 30 years. If you eat too much , feel bloated, bad tummy , take one or sometimes two glasses of Fernet- Branca, within 15 minutes you will feel fine. I like the taste if you find it too strong and can find pepermint ( easier found in UK ) mix it. Some people say Underberg bitters does the same. They are similar but nothing is as good as Fernet - Branca
