Amara

An Italian amaro bitter liqueur from Sicily, made using 'arancia rossa di Sicilia' (blood oranges that have their own protected geographical indication in the EU) from their own orange groves. They also use wild herbs from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna and local spring water. There's little doubt this is a taste of Sicily!

Reviews for Amara Amaro
What a discovery
This stuff is incredible. Look up the recipe for an Etna Spritz, as made by the bartenders at the Grand Timeo hotel in Taormina in Sicily...

An orange delight
Bought a bottle of Amara from an Enotica in Sicily and was gutted when we finished it at home. The perfect pre dinner small shot of sunshine. So glad I found somewhere in the UK that stocks this orange delight.

Highly recommend.
I had this amazing Amara Amaro in Sicily a few back. So happy when I saw it was now available here in the Uk.
It is not as bitter or herby as Averna. It still has some bitter but also a sweetness. Serve chilled after a meal this is a perfect high class digestivo.

Unusual bright citrus amaro
Neither as intensely bitter or as medicinal as an Italian amaro *can* be, it nonetheless has enough of both to satisfy fans of the category. As the description suggests, it's the notable fresh orange element that makes this amaro stand apart. I wasn't sure if that was going to work for me when I tried this, but it really does; I like it much more than I expected to and plan to keep it in rotation.
