Christmas Mulled Cup Bottling Note

The folk at Ableforth's love Christmas almost as much as creating crazily delicious drinks and now they've combined the two by creating the Christmas Mulled Cup!

We all know that making the perfect Mulled Wine for your guests is fraught with problems - frankly, it's a Christmas minefield! Knackered or unbalanced spices, suspect citrus notes and the inevitability that you'll serve your most discerning guest the glass with the big clump of nutmeg you couldn't filter out! Gah! The problem is, it's the ultimate festive tipple so we have to give it a go, don't we? If only there was a foolproof, delicious solution...

But wait, what was that about a Christmas Mulled Cup again? Produced with an expertly blended mix of VSOP Cognac, Fine Vintage Port and tinctures made from fantastic festive spices, along with cold-distilled orange and lemon peels and a surfeit of cold-distilled fresh root ginger, you say? Why, that sounds like the perfect solution for all my carolers, bell-ringers and magical gift-givers!

Ableforth's mulled wine recipe:

75ml of Christmas Mulled Cup
1 bottle of good, fruity red wine
60g granulated sugar
Gently heat, and serve.

Ableforth's Kir Noel recipe:

10ml of Christmas Mulled Cup
Prosecco
Berries
Build in a flute, top with berries and serve.

Merry Christmas!!!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Ho! Mulled spices galore! Christmassy aromas of clove studded oranges, cinnamon stick, warming ginger, rich port, nutmeg and fresh orange peel as well with a suggestion of vanilla from the brandy.

Palate: Ho! Quite thick, the palate is led by the very finest fresh orange peel. Ah, the wonders of cold-distillation! Supported wonderfully by those rounded Christmas spices once again.

Finish: Ho! Gorgeous orange peel lingers with allspice and creamy nutmeg before a warming ginger finale!

Overall: I could happily drink this neat all day, but its raison d'être is Christmas-ifying glorious drinks, whether that means Christmas Cocktails (Kir Noël, anyone?) or making the perfect Mulled Wine.

Christmas Mulled Cup Reviews

Overpowering on the cloves

Gutted, I love mulled wine, but I really don't like this at all. Far too Aniseedy/Cloves. Tried a tiny amount in Prosecco and all I could taste was cloves and I think for me it'll ruin a bottle of red wine. I so wanted to like this too.

Good for hot toddies too!

This makes lovely mulled wine, but I've also been using it for hot toddies! A squeeze of lemon, some honey, hot water and a splash of Christmas Mulled Cup makes colds so much more bearable.

Mulled Cup indeed.

The most moorish and delectable sweet alcoholic drink you will ever have. Literally Christmas in a bottle. Its so good in fact, I prefer to sip it neat. Nevermind adding it to wine. Enjoy neat.

Best. Mulled. Wine. Ever.

This stuff smells like Christmas day all on its own - but the effect when added to red wine is simply incredible. This is genius, pure and simple. Can't believe no-one thought of this until now.

Bonzer

This is great stuff. The bottle provided fuss-free and delicious mulled wine at our Christmas party and, as an entirely unexpected bonus, a rich, oleaginous, warming and Christmas-spice-packed liqueur. Will definitely buy again. And I won't wait for Christmas this time...

Fantastic! And so easy!

This was an impulse buy for me as it just sounded so lovely. We tried it out last Friday and it is amazing. No need to fuss with a bunch of different spices or cheesecloth. And no need to wait! Pour in about a quarter cup of mulled cup and sugar per bottle of wine and then just heat up. You've got perfect mulled wine in about 5 minutes.
